Rising costs and a stagnate revenue limit are the forces behind the Spooner Area School District’s plan to hold another referendum to raise additional money for operating costs.
The following events are on the calendar for the Cable Natural History Museum in Cable during December.
Like many state offices, all Wisconsin Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices will be closed for business on Friday, Nov. 26, as DMV staff complete another unpaid furlough day. Employee furloughs for all university and state employees are part of the 2009–11 state budget.

Wilderness beats Clydesdales and Flyers
HAYWARD— Derek Tylka and Dawson Kuhlman had two goals apiece to help the Wisconsin Wilderness defeat the Duluth Clydesdales 6-3 Wednesday, Nov. 17, in a Superior International Junior Hockey League neutral site contest staged at the Sports Center in Hayward.

SPOONER— Nearly ideal hunting conditions across the state contributed to an active opening morning of the 2010 Wisconsin nine-day regular gun deer season, according to anecdotal reports from registration stations across the state.

Historic Thanksgiving
In America, people have been celebrating Thanksgiving in one form or another for more than 400 years. Today, Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, we will continue that tradition with turkey, cranberries, pumpkin pie and NFL football on television. Thanksgiving has certainly come a long way from where it started.
Chamber unveils online store
The Spooner Area Chamber of Commerce has added a new aspect to the chamber’s website – an online web store. The new online store will be a great benefit to Chamber members as well as the general public, the organization said.
Intermezzo to host annual advent concert
The public is invited to attend the Intermezzo Music Club’s 35th annual Advent Concert on Thursday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Spooner High School Auditorium.
