The key to providing superior service is to work with our clients to determine their strengths and weaknesses. We discuss where you are and where you want to be. We also provide guidance to help you determine what the appropriate standards are for your business. For example; we may jointly determine that it is reasonable for you to expect your internal systems and personnel to provide financial statements that are complete and accurate every month by the 15 th day of the following month. If that is not currently happening, we help identify the road blocks, establish consistent and achievable goals and responsibilities, and then implement the procedures so the financials are actually completed and available by the agreed upon deadlines.
Identify Gaps and Opportunities
Every company has someone who is predominantly responsible for the financial aspects of that organization. Regardless of the level of strength of that person, there will be gaps and areas of weakness. No one person can be an expert in every financial area such as taxes, financial accounting systems, financial reporting, cash management, succession planning, valuations, etc. We work with you to supplement the areas where gaps exist and ensure that you obtain the best advice in all areas from the strong team of experts at our firm. Many accounting firms have a broad range of expertise, but we take that expertise and work with you to make sure that areas of need are identified and addressed. We take the time to listen-probing to determine your needs-and develop a strong interest in your matters so that we can provide the specific services required to meet those needs.
Propose Solutions and Timetables
Our first step is to identify needs and propose solutions. The next step, equally critical, involves completing the planning and communication process by agreeing to the scope of a project, setting specific goals and timetables, and providing specific information in writing regarding costs and outcomes. This provides you and our firm with objective and comprehensive documentation that serves as a road map for effectively and efficiently completing the project. The plan keeps the projects on track and virtually eliminates project surprises related to timing or costs.

Once projects are complete, we provide continuous follow up to make sure systems and solutions keep working efficiently, old habits do not re-surface and continuous improvement of processing becomes the rule rather than the exception. In almost all cases, our clients see value in this process, and we jointly identify other projects to improve the overall financial management of the organization.

We constantly strive to keep up with the rapidly changing technology environment. Our internal network and computer hardware and software are continuously updated which helps us keep up on technology solutions for our clients. We work with many of our clients across the country electronically via the Internet.

Almost all of our new clients are referred by existing clients, attorneys and bankers. Our mark eting focus is essentially to do the best job on every project for every client and create "raving fans." This provides us with more leads and better advertising than can be created any other way. It really is all about the people. There is a saying that you cannot hire a duck and train him to become an eagle. We believe that and work hard in the hiring process to find people that will put the client first and work as a team with the client, the internal staff at J&V and with other client advisors. We then provide ongoing technical and leadership training and lead by example with the top management setting the tone for client relationships, timely returned calls, clear advice and follow through.
