Prairie Clinic Welcomes Dr. Arminda Gensler
Dr. Arminda Gensler joined Prairie Clinic on September 1st as a Family Medicine provider. Dr. Gensler grew up in Melbourne Beach, a small town on the East Coast of Florida. She remembers having fire drills in elementary school where they would go outside and watch the space shuttle go up. She earned her masters in both biology and English at Williams College, Massachussets, where she graduated Cum Laude with Honors in biology. She loved the gorgeous campus with strong academic programs.
She earned her medical degree from Wake Forest/Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, which is set in the Berkshire Mountains. She got outside a lot and made lovely, lifelong friends. Her rotations were in family medicine, pediatrics and infectious diseases. She remembers that her rotations gave her the opportunity to see how the biology and physiology fits in with the social and family dynamics.
Dr. Gensler completed her residency at the Department of Family Medicine in Madison and loved it. She had great residents, lovely faculty and living in Madison. "I fell in love with Wisconsin", she says... Read More.

Making the Most of your Diabetes Appointments
On 7/20/2010 the topic of discussion at the Prairie Clinic Diabetes Support meeting was making the most of your diabetes appointments. If you come prepared, it is more likely to benefit both provider and person with diabetes. We encourage you to bring list of questions. If the list is too long, it may require setting priority for items and saving some for the next visit.
Ideally we would ask that you record your blood sugars on paper for review. In fact we encourage that everyone write them down so you are able to make notes as needed. Sometimes it is helpful to know that you went out to a buffet dinner later in the evening and that is what caused you to have a high sugar reading. Also please record that you skipped a meal or were late eating it and then had a low blood sugar. We like for you to learn from your testing... Read More
