Living Word is kicking off our building fund drive called Moving Mountains. In this appeal, we'll ask members to prayerfully consider giving an offering to the fund over and above their regular offerings.
We've reached a number of milestones at Living Word, some of which include:
All through these milestones, God has been working in amazing ways among us and through us as we spread the gospel of Jesus in our community and throughout the world. So many have come to know Jesus for the first time or now have a closer relationship with him -- the gospel message does amazing things!
But we think that we can reach even more with the gospel by building a facility specifically designed to reach out with that message. This will take time and sacrifice on the part of the saints to build up the necessary funds, and we aren't on any timetable because God will bless it in his time and in his way. But our Moving Mountains appeal will encourage every communicant member to join together to see what God can do through us. It gives us a specific opportunity to respond to God's many blessings. The Moving Mountains Appeal will challenge us to give toward our Building Fund over and above our regular giving.
Learning, Living, and Sharing God's Word
We are all about God's Word - first learning it, then living it, and also sharing it. God's Word is all about Jesus. Jesus is all about us and you. Yes, really. Give us a chance to explain. Browse these pages to see what we're about in more detail. Contact us if you have questions or just want to talk. That's one of the ways we love to share.
Living Word Lutheran Church, located in Waukesha, Wisconsin, is a congregation of about 190 Christians primarily seeking people who do not yet know of their need for Jesus. Living Word is affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS).
Until we have a facility of our own, we meet weekly at Rose Glen Elementary School (map) to worship God who is our Creator and Savior.
Feel free to contact Pastor John Borgwardt if you have questions about Living Word and our ministry in southwest Waukesha.
The Gospel Is Flying
Does anyone know which state has the logo "First in Flight" on their license plates? If you guessed North Carolina, you're right. The first powered and sustained flight in a manned airplane took place in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, in 1903. Orville Wright was airborne for 12 seconds and flew 120 feet. That might not be very impressive by modern standards, but it was history-making in 1903 and would pave the way for modern aviation. Really, every time you get on an airplane to visit Aunt Edna in California, you should thank Wilbur and Orville Wright for building the first manned "flying machine" that worked.
It's hard to imagine a more important flight in the history of mankind. But that's exactly what we find in our sermon text this morning where we find not a person in flight, but the gospel message itself flying.more...
