Our objective at Woodlands Senior Park is to provide a high quality living environment to seniors who may need limited care in various daily functions. Our trained staff consists of licensed or certified nursing professionals experienced in working with the needs of the elderly. Our staff is experienced at working with individuals with different levels of abilities. Our residents usually fall into three different types of seniors: 70% with advanced age difficulties, 20% with Alzheimer's/dementia and 5% who are terminally ill. Our staff is trained to promote each resident abilities and assist when needed. Our quality, state-of-the-art rooms are equipped with emergency call systems and accessibility features. Three meals daily are available along with medication management, laundry services, housekeeping, activities, and beautician services.
Potential residents will be evaluated for physical and mental ability prior to acceptance. Upon admission, an individual service plan (ISP) will be initiated with the resident and family in order to learn the level of assistance needed to help maintain their highest level of independence. Advanced aged residents can participate in activities, dining, and special programs along with other residents. Residents also have the option to do their own independent activities, either within the facility or in the community.
Specific activities are provided for residents with cognitive difficulties. All staff and volunteers are encouraged to focus on resident's abilities and not their disabilities. Family members are encouraged to share with staff what types of activities the individual used to enjoy. This will allow staff and volunteers to better meet the individual's social and spiritual needs. We have found "reminiscing about the good ol' days" to be very rewarding for all our residents.
Unfortunately, for some residents as they "age in place" they are diagnosed with a terminal illness. Woodlands Senior Park works cooperatively with Hospice staff to provide special care and comfort for these residents during this time in their lives. Special nursing and dietary needs are met by our competent staff; and activities are encouraged on those days when the resident is feeling up to participating in an activity. Many times, other residents, staff, and volunteers help to provide comfort to those not feeling well by reading to them, spending time with them, or just holding their hand.
