Crossroads Adoption Services is a non-profit, non-sectarian agency founded by adoptive parents. The staff includes adoptive parents, adoptees and birth parents.
Expertise & Integrity for over 34 years

Assists Minnesota and Wisconsin clients with any one of the U.S. States and the countries with whom we have a direct relationship
Assists Minnesota and Wisconsin residents who are living and working in another country
Assists families who have linked with a child in another country where they have someone they know who can assist them with an adoption
Assists families who live in states other than Minnesota and Wisconsin

Each year, approximately 150 children join Crossroads' adoptive families. The children come from across the United States and from other countries. They range in age from days old through teenage. Most of the children Crossroads places are under 2 years of age and are healthy. Crossroads continues to place children who have special physical, mental and/or emotional needs or are part of a sibling group.
For over 34 years we have placed more than 3,500 children from 36 different countries, so we have accumulated a lot of experience. Children have come from Eastern Europe including Kazahkstan, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine, China, Colombia, Guatemala, India, Nepal, Peru, and the Philippines. Other countries include: Brazil, Chile, El Salvador, Mexico, and Honduras. Smaller numbers of children have come from the Azores, Belize, Bolivia, Canada, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Greece, Guyana, Haiti, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Virgin Islands. If we do not currently have a program in a country where you have interest, we are willing to work with you on an independent adoption if you have some personal contacts in that country who will be able to assist you.

More than 3,500 children placed from the U.S. and other countries.
The agency adds no restrictions to eligibility to adopt. Restrictions come from country and state laws, birth parents, and orphanages.

FEDERAL ADOPTION LEGISLATION PASSED!! We are proud to announce that the International Adoption Simplification Act introduced by Minnesotas Senator Amy Klobuchar cleared the House of Representatives today and is headed for President Obamas signature! This legislation will allow siblings 16 to18 years of age to be adopted along with their younger siblings in Hague Convention countries. The new law will also waive the current requirement that adoptive children be immunized prior to coming to the United States. Crossroads worked closely with Senator Klobuchar to get this law passed, especially after one of Crossroads families applied to adopt a large sibling group that included two children over the age of 15. Senator Klobuchar rewrote the bill to be retroactive to April 1st, 2008, after we brought this familys situation to her attention. It has been wonderful to experience firsthand just how personal the political can be. This should be an inspiration to all of us as we work tirelessly for the sake of children. Senator Klobuchar rewrote the bill to be retroactive to April 1st, 2008, after we brought this familys situation to her attention. It has been wonderful to witness organizations, families and elected representatives coming together to make such a significant law change! This should be an inspiration to all of us as we work tirelessly for the sake of children. Crossroads plans to work with state representatives soon to update MN law in order for adoptive families to allow families with recent Hague adoptions to finalize the adoption of their children with ease.
CROSSROADS IN THE NEWS: In 1991, WCCO anchor Don Shelby and his camera crew accompanied Crossroads staff to visit children in Romanian orphanages. This resulted in a news series known as The Iron Crib which led to the adoption of hundreds of children from Romania by local families. As WCCOs Don Shelby retires, he once again met with Crossroads staff and families to follow-up on how the story changed so many lives. If you missed the two segments, here is a link to the WCCO story: http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2010/11/08/revisiting-shelbys-report-on-the-iron-crib/ and http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2010/11/09/revisiting-the-iron-crib-part-2/
