To the Customers, Friends, and Family of Cafe Continental:
Please accept our most sincere gratitude for your patronage, support, and friendship over the past 25 years at Café Continental, Antonio's Restaurant, and in our personal lives. We have all felt your love in ways that words may not express. It is with a heavy heart that we must tell you all that we have accepted an offer to purchase The Café Continental. Our last day of business will be on September 30, 2010. Sudden personal family reasons beyond our control have arisen that Tony, Rose Marie, Nick and Stephanie feel are significant enough to bring us together more frequently to spend as much quality time with each other uninterrupted by the heavy schedules that currently limit our time together and the amount of time Tony and Rose Marie have to spend with their grand children Nicole and Cecelia Rose. This is a very difficult time for us and we feel it is best spent together. The magic that makes our relationships so strong with you all is going to be focused solely on us as a family for the immediate future. We look forward to serving you again in the future when we are able to make the commitments of time and energy that you have come to expect from us.
In mid-October Chef Justin Carlisle along with the folks from Restaurant Muramoto, Sushi Muramoto, and The Haze BBQ, will be opening their newest venture, 43 North, a contemporary American Bistro, at the former Café Continental. We have worked closely with, and have made a significant investment in, this group from the beginning of their empire in our property at 106 King Street next door. We are very excited about their plans and encourage all of our customers, friends, and family to lend their support to them. Rose Marie is very excited about coming to their Sunday brunch as customer with her friends and family!
We would be remiss not to mention that your support, especially in the last couple of years, has made us a stand out success and made our business valuable enough to pass on to the ambitious, creative, and energetic team that we feel will provide a new home in a familiar space for all of you. Starting Thursday September 9th we will be offering a customer appreciation promotion through our last day on September 30th. Please check back with us later this week for details. If you have purchased gift certificates from us please redeem them by September 30, 2010 or simply mail them to us along with a self-addressed envelope at post office box 259897, Madison WI, 53725-9897 for a full refund of your unused balance.
We extend a very special thanks to the many friends, family, and staff – most especially our friend and coworker Marta Ingbretson, whom have all been there in person, prayer, and spirit for us during this most personally challenging time.
We Remain Very Truly Yours,
