Since the age of fourteen, when he shot his first 4x5 transparency, he knew that he had found his occupational passion. Being in a creative environment as a child nurtured his desire to create with the photographic medium. Whether he is working alone or collaborating with others, every image that triggers a response from a viewer is both his goal and reward.
In his opinion photography, the basics of seeing light and composing the scene, has not changed for decades. The medium and equipment is changing at the speed of light and becoming more confusing to some, but it offers more control and creativity for the professional eye.
A lifelong Madisonian (minus his time studying photography at the Milwaukee Center for Photography), Jim's calm demeanor and engaging style make him fun to work with. In fact, at the end of the day, you'll have a bunch of killer images, and it will seem like you haven't even been working.
For more than 20 years, Mark has been showing up at the studio, ready and willing to take on all challenges and turn them into something special (OK, maybe that's a little sappy, but it's true).
If you need food shot and shot well, Mark's your man. He?s shot everything from fried eggs to foie gras. In addition, in two decades of commercial photography, he has made heroes out of people and products through his eye and his techniques.
Mark even lists photography as a hobby—go figure, and he loves to shoot non-traditional portraits (whatever that means). Besides that, you can see him bicycling any time the temperature is above 20 degrees.
