As a part of its five-year capital fund effort entitled, For Christ and His Church, Elm Grove Lutheran has procured a completely rebuilt 1891 Steinway. The piano was dedicated to Gods glory in worship services on the weekend of October 23-24.
The pianos original owner is a music professor (University of Michigan at Ann Arbor) who moved to Europe and chose not to move the piano with him. The rebuilt Steinway found its way to Wisconsin where EGL Church Organist, Richard Ewert, and EGL Music Director, Karla Bessert, had the chance to play this marvelous instrument.
The Steinway has been fitted with a piano preserver that includes both humidifying and dehumidifying capabilities. It also sports a duet piano bench so that two players can comfortably sit and play at the same time.
This recently rebuilt Steinway should serve Elm Grove Lutheran exceedingly well for the next 50-80 years at a minimum. The sound is fantastic, and the volume easily fills the sanctuary. Enjoy its gift of music!
We invite you to attend Thanksgiving worship services:
Plan your schedule now in order not to miss any of the special worship services at EGL during the Advent & Christmas season.
The theme is From Heaven Above, based on Martin Luthers famous Christmas carol, From Heaven Above to Earth I Come. Luther composed five Christmas carols. From Heaven Above is the most childlike of all. It was first published in 1535 and may have been written the previous Christmas, when Hans [Luther] was eight and Lenchen [Luther] five. It was surely written for children and intended to be a Christmas pageant in church.
Wednesday, December 1, 6:30 p.m.
10:00 a.m., Christmas Festival
During our 2010 Advent & Christmas observance, all of our mid-week and special Advent/Christmas services will follow the theme. Dont miss any!
[Note: There will not be a 5:30 p.m. worship service on Saturday, December 25. There will be the regularly scheduled services at 8:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, December 26.]
