Welcome to Camp MacLean
In 1939, Mr. and Mrs. M.H. MacLean of Evanston, Illinois made a generous gift to the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago to create a summer camp for boys in memory of their son John Bartlett MacLean. YMCA Camp MacLean opened in the summer of 1941. Throughout the years camp has served thousands of youth. Our programs have grown from a summer camp for boys to a year round camping center serving youth, families and organizations. Over 13,000 people a year enjoy our camping programs.
Our mission is to provide all of our campers and guests with a safe, quality experience. Whether you are looking for a summer camp for your child, a place to conduct outdoor education for your school or a camping location for your group retreat we pledge our complete support.
Thank you for visiting our website. We hope it provides you with quality information about Camp MacLean. If you need further information or wish to enroll in any of our programs please contact us at camp.
The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago anchors neighborhoods - from the heart of the central city to the farthest reaches of the suburbs. As a result, families come closer together, children learn and grow, young people lead, individuals become self-sufficient and all people are healthier in spirit, mind and body.
It is the goal of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago to provide services to people regardless of their ability to pay. Waiver or reduction of fees is available, subject to program capacity and demonstrated need, without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, or physical or mental handicap.
