Honor the land and the game.
Golf should be a lifelong challenge of a walk through an attractive, natural landscape, and not a giggling drive through an over designed and manicured, artificial grass nursery...Golf should not be fair, should test character as well as skill, and continue to put all the responsibility of play on the shoulders of golfers. (From Keepers of the Game, as quoted in Golf Magazine).

Golf, in America, is too expensive. We ought to be making golf more affordable and mobilizing to bring as many different types of people as possible into the game not making it even more of a rich mans private game. Golf is the most democratic game on this earth. And something very precious will be lost if the day comes when its no longer so.Sandy Tatum
Former USGA President

Open since September 1st, 2000, the Argue-Ment Golf Course is set in some of Wisconsin's prettiest countryside, at the leading edge of the Southwestern Wisconsin glacial "driftless" area, between Belleville and New Glarus, one mile south of St. HWY 69 at N9603 Argue Rd.

Argue-Ment Golf Course is built as a golf only, 9 hole facility, with the intent of providing a high-value golf experience at an affordable price. Our club house is basic, without bar or grill, but with indoor plumbing! We maintain a modest inventory of basic golf supplies. Snack foods are available, as are soft drinks. Gas carts are available (The course is readily walkable! We encourage you to do so.) as are rental clubs (Men's and women's full and partial sets, children's partial sets). A grass tee practice area and a large practice green area adjacent to the #1 teeing area.

While the course topography is typical of the hills and valleys of the New Glarus area, all play areas of the course are designed to be accessible to single rider carts. We have at least one single rider cart normally available for rental (please call to reserve)and will allow golfers who have specialized adaptive equipment of their own to operate it throughout the course.

You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages. (Adult beverages require adult behavior). If you are looking for lunch or dinner after your round, ask us for recommendation to one of the many excellent dining facilities in New Glarus, Belleville, or Monticello.

We have a picnic area with gas and charcoal grills available for your private or group use. Group outings at a discounted price are possible Monday through Thursday, full price Friday through Sunday. Shotgun starts are only available to groups Monday through Thursday.

We operate with the philosophy that a golf course should drape on the natural landscape the way a favorite golf sweater drapes on the shoulders. To the best of our ability, we used the lay of the land and its vegetation as the primary challenge. Our course is not the typical North American park style course. We follow a more European vision of minimal irrigation, naturalized "waste areas," and small greens with lots of movement...less is more. The course changes with the seasonal rains, forcing the golfer to adapt.

The course design and construction was undertaken by the owners, extended family and friends, when available. Bent-grass greens, bluegrass and fescue fairways and tees are used throughout. It is, and always will be, a work of love (both of the land and the game) in progress. We minimize all forms of pesticide and herbicide to enable as many people as possible to enjoy the course without fear of risk. Currently, the course is nine holes, with unused portion s of the property still farmed in a corn/soybean rotation. There is room for 18. We are wrestling with the notion of expansion, i.e. can it be done without violating the core simplicity of what we are attempting to accomplish?

Five sets of tees are placed to allow an enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. The "way back" tees will give your game all it can handle, placing a premium on both distance and accuracy. Standard, Executive, and Forward tees are available for less demanding rounds. We do not have "men's" and "ladies" tees. We call ours "Abili-tees." Children are always welcome under proper supervision of adults. They also have a set of tees, placed for their skill level. WE do not charge for non golfing riders or walkers. (Sooner or later they will be bitten by the bug and then we have them!)
